Barbara May (Dougherty) Williams, aged 95, of Corydon, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025. She was born on July 31, 1929, in Binghamton, New York, to John and Ruth (Walker) Dougherty.

Throughout her life, Barbara cultivated a deep passion for gardening, enjoyed going fishing with her husband, and cherished the world found within the pages of a good book. An avid animal lover, she found joy in caring for the creatures around her. She had a long-standing membership in the Daughters of the Nile in Binghamton, where she formed lasting connections and relationships.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Williams, as well as her brothers, Clarence "Pete" and Harry Dougherty. Her legacy continues through her family, including her children, David Williams (Tricia) and Lynn Williams McAvoy (Dennis). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Andy Chaney, Abi Basham (Jeff), and Matt Weixler, as well as her great-grandchildren, Gavin, Grayson, and Harper, sisters-in-law, Arline Williams and Marcia Holdsworth, and nephews, Todd (Diane) and Kevin (Kristen) Williams and Clark and Neil Holdsworth.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the friends and staff at Harrison Springs for the exceptional care and affection they provided to Barbara during her time there.

Barbara’s wish was to be cremated, and Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) has been entrusted with her care. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to your favorite charity.
