BAKER, Barbara Lou DeWeese, 90, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at Westminster Village Kentuckiana in Clarksville, Indiana. Barbara was born on August 28, 1935, to the late James and Ruth (Baylor) DeWeese in Milltown, Indiana. Barb graduated from Jeffersonville High School in 1953 and was a 1978 graduate of Indiana University with a BS in business. After working over 30 years at General Electric, she retired in January 1991.
After retirement, she and her husband Doug traveled via motorhome throughout the nation. They settled at the Great Outdoors RV Resort in Titusville, Florida, where they lived out their retirement in the sun. Barbie enjoyed her retirement, spending her days at the pool or beach or visiting Walt Disney World with family. She handcrafted numerous porcelain dolls in the images of her grand nieces and nephews. She relished a good family card game and enjoyed her weekly bridge games with the blue-haired ladies. She was a force to be reckoned with at the card table.
Barbara moved back to Jeffersonville in 2016 where she spent her final decade. Barbara was very generous, amazingly intelligent, fiercely independent, forceful, and quite outspoken.
