Barbara June (Lawson) Jobe, born on September 17, 1939, in Marysville, Indiana, passed away on January 23, 2026. A devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Elizabeth, Indiana, she was not only a woman of strong faith but also a nurturing presence in the lives of many.
Barbara had a reputation for her heartfelt cooking. It was a skill that endeared her to everyone who had the pleasure of sharing a meal with her. Her cooking was a testament to her loving nature and her desire to bring people together. Beyond the kitchen, Barbara also enjoyed crocheting and quilting, creating beautiful pieces that were cherished by her family. In her earlier years, she found joy in gardening alongside her late husband, Donald, cultivating not just plants, but memories that would last a lifetime.
Barbara's proudest accomplishment was her deep love and dedication to her family. She is survived by her loving children: John Prall, Marisha (Greg) Sherrard, Gilbert (Trena) Prall, Michael (Melissa) Jobe, Valerie (Keith) Hall, Jeffrey (Marlene) Jobe, Donald A. (Tammy) Jobe, and Denita Spond. Her legacy continues through her 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, all of whom were cherished by her. She is also survived by her sisters, Elsie Cravens and Laverne Taylor.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Lawson and Lue Emily Culbertson Lawson; her husband, Donald L. Jobe; and her siblings, Clifford Lawson, Buford Lawson, Nevada Powers, Roxie Lawson, Mona Glass, Inez Jones, Lucille Ringo, Martha Cullins, and Evalee Poole.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Service will follow at 4:00 pm on Saturday, at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Hammer Family Cemetery in Tompkinsville, Kentucky at a later date.
