Barbara Jean (Wedding) Freiberger, 87, of Greenville, Indiana, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026 surrounded by her family.
Barbara was born on November 18, 1938, to her parents Warren and Garnet Roberts Wedding. She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her son, Ed Freiberger, Jr., her daughter-in-law Barbara Freiberger, and her granddaughter Julie.
Throughout her life, Barbara was steadfastly devoted to her family and her faith. She shared a long and loving marriage with her husband, Edward Freiberger, Sr., who survives her. She leaves behind two daughters, Karen O'Neal (Kenneth) and Lisa Andres (Tom). Barbara cherished her role as a grandmother. She is survived by her grandchildren: Joey Uhl (Linda), Bradley Uhl, Abbie Paulley (Jason), Travis Jacobi, and Nicholas Freiberger. Each grandchild was a special part of her heart, including her 13 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Her dear sister Pat Ferguson (William) also survive her and will remember Barbara fondly.
Barbara dedicated much of her working life to her career as a hairdresser. She served her clients, neighbors, and friends with skill, care, and a welcoming smile. Barbara was a proud member of St. Mary's Navilleton Catholic Church, where she found lasting friendships and meaning throughout her life.
Barbara was a woman of many interests. She loved to play bingo and enjoyed crocheting and knitting, often crafting beautiful keepsakes for those she loved. She found pleasure in playing games on her computer and, above all, treasured every chance to spend time fishing with her husband and grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 31, 2026 at St. Mary's Navilleton Catholic Church (7500 Navilleton Road, Floyds Knobs) with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
