Listen to Obituary
Audrey Walker was born in Prince Georges County Maryland on September 28, 1929, to the late Rosetta and Alton Proctor. She went on to her reward on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 after a brief illness.

At a young age she moved to New York City, New York. While there she worked as a model for Saks 5th Avenue. She also met and fell in love with her late husband, Eugene Walker. They married in Pittsburgh, PA in 1949 and immediately started a family. Together they parented 8 children. In the early 1960s, they moved their family to Baltimore, MD where she continued to fulfill her role as a loving and supportive wife and mother. While in Baltimore, she worked as a Sales Associate for the Macy's Company and retired in the 1990s. For the past few years, she split her time living in Louisville, KY with her son Kem and his wife Tammy, and living in Maryland with her daughter Alora.

Audrey was a sweet and quiet spirit who loved the and her church family. Going to worship was the highlight of her week. She was raised a devout Catholic, but she obeyed the Gospel of Jesus Christ and became a member of the Central Church of Christ on March 28, 2000. On May 8, 2011, she placed her membership with the Woodlawn Park congregation who became her extended family. She loved this congregation and its leadership. Their prayers, encouragement and support were mainstays in uplifting her spirits when she fell ill.

In her quiet time, she loved reading the Bible and having it read to her. One of her favorite passages was Proverbs 18:21 –"Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof." She actually lived this passage, for she never had a harsh word or thought for anyone or anything. She always spoke and lived life to the fullest. She really loved getting back to nature and helping her son with gardening was a favorite past time.

Audrey loved to work crossword puzzles and play checkers. She was an accomplished seamstress and an avid fitness buff. She loved taking daily walks and swimming with her husband of 64 years and continued the practice following his passing until her illness prevented her from doing so. She loved rearing all of her children – 4 generations to be exact!

Audrey has now gone the path of her late husband and youngest son Cory Lamont Walker. She leaves to cherish her memory sons Gary Eugene Walker (Zenaida "Zeny"), Larry Journay Walker (Saundra), Doren Holley Walker (Avelina "Lena"), Kem Aubrey Walker (Tammy), G. Kevin Turner (Karen), daughters Marsha Jean Walker, Alora Gail Walker, the Bell/Johnson family (Jill, Craig & Neal), more than 40 grand, great and great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and other precious relatives and friends.
