Audrey Lee Smith, a man whose life was marked by unwavering loyalty, deep devotion to family, and a spirit that brought joy and strength to all who knew him, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026. Born on November 5, 1960, in Louisville, Kentucky, Audrey lived a life full of love, resilience, and indomitable spirit until his final day.
Audrey was truly a force to be reckoned with—a no-nonsense kind of guy whose presence could fill any room. He was known as the life of the party, a wonderful provider, and a protector who cared deeply for those around him. His humor and ability to carry on conversations effortlessly allowed him to connect with people from all walks of life. Yet beneath this strong exterior lay a heart that adored his family above all else, and a man who was a “mama’s boy” at heart. His faith was an integral part of who he was, as he loved the Lord and found comfort and guidance in his beliefs throughout his life.
Among his favorite pastimes were fishing and working on cars—activities that brought him peace and allowed him to express his resilient nature and hands-on approach to life. These simple joys reflected his grounded spirit and steadfast character.
Audrey is lovingly remembered by those who continue to cherish his memory today. He leaves behind his devoted daughter, Amanda Leigh Smith, and her husband Larry Zeznanski, who shared countless moments with him. His light shines on through his granddaughters, Kristin Clark, Hannah Clark and Lillyann Miller, and his great-grandson, Milo Faust, who will carry his legacy into future generations. Family ties remain strong with his sister, Shirley Ann Cureton, along with niece Terrah Dawn Waynick and her husband, David Waynick. His cousins Shelly Barrentine and her children, as well as James (Sandie) Allen and their children, hold close the memories of his generosity and spirit.
Audrey had the privilege of growing up surrounded by family who have since passed on but remain forever in his heart: his beloved wife of 22 years, Sandy Smith; his son, Joshua Smith; his parents Alvin and Anna Mae Smith; and his maternal grandparents, Stella and Frank Hodge. His paternal grandparents, Gertrude and Ray Smith, also shaped the man he became. Audrey remembers fondly his brother, David Allen Smith, and brother-in-law Ronnie Cureton. Aunts Geraldine Allen and Jenny Kaiser, uncles Bee Hodge and Paul Hodge, and cousins Jerry Ball, Mary Richardson, and Helen Ball are all part of the rich tapestry of his life story.
Audrey Lee Smith’s legacy is one of laughter, love, and a life lived with unshakable resolve. His family, friends, and all who knew him will carry forward the warmth he shared—a true testament to a life well-lived, and a soul deeply cherished. Though he has departed from this world, his spirit, his lessons, and his love remain alive in the hearts of many, endlessly echoing the precious memory of a remarkable man.
