Arlinda Louise Flanary

Arlinda Louise (Craig) Flanary, 62, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2021. She made her debut as the third addition to the Craig household led by her parents, James L., Sr., and Nancy W. Craig on November 13, 1959.

Arlinda spent her formative years in the Jefferson County Public School System and graduated from Central High School in 1977. She attended and was baptized at the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where she discovered her love for ministry in song.

Anyone who truly knows Arlinda remembers her electric smile, fearlessly spicy personality, short bow legs, and love for all things fashionable, especially five-inch high heel shoes. She could run track in high heels and had some of the best dance moves any pair of skates at the Broadway Roller Rink has ever seen. Not only does Arlinda bring all eyes to the center of the floor when she walks in, but she enjoyed talking to any and everybody about any and everything.

In 1994, Arlinda met the love of her life, Charles E. Flanary, Sr., and they shared 26 years together until his passing in July 2020. Arlinda took great pride in being a wife to Charles, Sr., or, as she affectionately called him, "Boobie." She also enjoyed spoiling her grandkids with just about anything they thought about wanting.

In the late evening of December 7, 2021, Arlinda's overwhelming physical ailments would meet their finality in exchange for a new body and a new home. The Great Physician signed her discharge orders and in peace she joined her beloved husband, father, stepfather, and younger brother who preceded her in the race of life.

Those remaining to celebrate her life include her beloved mother, Nancy Falls; her aunt, Mary Nellie Rhodes (Uncle James); four siblings, Sandra Peak (Michael), James Craig, Jr. (Felicia), Carolyn Craig, and Bruce Craig, Sr. (Octavia); two daughters, Latascha Craig and Marietta Lewis (Demetrious); two sons, Charles Flanary, Jr., (Melissa) and Richard Flanary; 11 grandchildren, Jonte' (Victoria), Chance, Laquita, Shaquita, Jasmine, Cyara, Savion, Josiah, DeAhna, and Sarah; 7 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and dear friends.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 17, 2021, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
