Arei Howard

Arei’ Amahja Howard, a kind and friendly soul, passed away on January 10, 2026, at the age of 33. Born on New Year’s Day in 1993 in Lorain, Ohio, Arei’ brought sunshine to the lives of everyone who knew him.

Arei’ grew up with a focus on his future. He earned his high school diploma from Eastern High School in Louisville, Kentucky. He later moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he graduated from Chestnut Hill College with degrees in both Business Administration and Accounting.

Arei’ was a man who found happiness in the world around him. He was known for his friendly nature and his many hobbies. Whether he was out fishing, riding his skateboard, or playing basketball, he lived life with a gentle spirit.

He was a talented artist who loved to paint, and at the time of his passing, he was following his dream of writing a book. Arei’ also had a deep love for music and was a dedicated basketball fan. He spent many hours cheering for LeBron James, following his career closely from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Arei' was preceded in death by his grandmother Nancy Howard and leaves behind a family who will miss his warmth and his smile. He is survived by his father Kwand K. Howard; mother Kenisha R. Patton; Grandmother Toni R. Bruce (Melvin); Grandfather Kenneth Patton (Susan); Brothers: Quajon R. Patton Sr. (Kiara), Amarea S. Howard Sr. (Troyona), and Kalon K. Howard; Nieces and Nephews: Makari A. Howard, Ma’Riah A. Bishop, Amiri S. Acosta, Quajon R. Patton Jr., Amarea S. Howard Jr., and Kalani J. Mitchell; and a host of family and friends.

Arei’ will be remembered for his easy-going personality and the quiet way he touched the hearts of those he met. He lived a full life in his 33 years, and his memory will be cherished by all who loved him.

Services for Arei' Howard will be held on Sunday, January 25th. Visitation will start at 2pm until 4pm with services to follow at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243.
