Archie S. Adams Jr., 85, died peacefully at home Tuesday, October 27, 2015. He was born September 7, 1930 in South Bend, Indiana.
He is now reunited with his father, Archie S. Adams Sr.; mother, Juanita Adams; stepmother, Hilda; Sister, Naomi Yaney; brother, Tom Adams; son, Michael; and daughter, Michele.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Patricia, who tirelessly took care of him in his last year of life; son, Jeff Adams; daughter, Melissa Adams, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He began his passion for running where he attended high school in Ft. Wayne, Indiana where he set the 220 meter low hurdle national record which still remains unbroken today. He then continued to college at the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he ran track. After attending college he enlisted as a member of the United States Army while serving his country for 3 years. He served during the Korean War as a Chaplain Assistant. He had passions for running and for the gospel which he found ways to join them together to minister to others along the way. In his journey he showed the utmost respect of his body, the temple of God.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Monday, November 2, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home (235 Juneau Drive, Louisville). His Home Going Celebration will be held Monday at 11:00 am at Newcomer Funeral Home - East Louisville with burial to follow at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery.
