Archie D. Lacy Sr., a devoted family man and skilled craftsman, passed away on March 18, 2026, in New Albany, Indiana. Born on February 23, 1956, in Louisville, Kentucky, Archie lived a life rich with dedication, hard work, and a deep love for his family and friends.
Archie graduated from Shawnee High School in Louisville, Kentucky, a foundation that helped shape his strong work ethic and compassionate spirit. Throughout his life, he embraced a variety of careers, showcasing his versatility and commitment to providing for those he loved. He worked as a cook for Masteson's Catering in Louisville, where his culinary skills were well regarded. His professional journey also saw him working with trains and dedicating many years to masonry, demonstrating both his mechanical aptitude and his hands-on expertise.
Beyond his career achievements, Archie found genuine joy in spending quality time with family and friends, which he considered the proudest accomplishment of his life. He cherished fishing, his dogs, watching westerns, and was an enthusiastic follower of UK sports. Additionally, he enjoyed watching boxing, wrestling, and interests that enriched his leisure hours and connected him with like-minded friends.
Archie is survived by his beloved daughter, Ariel Lacy; sons, Archie Lacy, Jr., and Shon Lacy; step daughter, Hallie Clay; grandchildren, Anaiyah, Ebony, Jarvis, Lanayia, Shon Jr., Adliyah, Pierce, Asher B, and Lily; and great-grandchildren who carried forward his legacy of love and kindness. He is also survived by his siblings, Leslie (Toni) Lacy, Thomas Lacy, Harvey Lacy, Barbara Lacy Knox, and Michael "Clarence" Knox; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, who remember him fondly. Their lives were deeply touched by his humor and support.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Tina Lacy; his parents, William "Buddy" and Eva Mae Lacy; and his friend, Wanda Jean Bary, whose memories he held dear.
Family, friends, and all who knew Archie are invited to honor his life during a visitation at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana, located at 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN 47150, on Friday, April 3, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. This time will be set aside for reflection and celebration of Archie’s enduring spirit and the meaningful connections he forged throughout his life.
Archie D. Lacy Sr.'s life was a testament to love, hard work, and devotion to family and friends. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him, and his contributions will not be forgotten. His impressionable legacy remains a beacon of strength and compassion for future generations.
The family requests that contributions in Archie’s memory be made to donor's choice or Floyd County Humane Society.
