Anthony Francis Richart

September 29, 1944 — February 4, 2023

Anthony Francis "Tony" Richart, 78, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2023. Tony was a proud veteran of the United States Army and a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. He retired from the Census Bureau in Jeffersonville after 21 years of employment and later went on to work at the News and Tribune.

He was born on September 29, 1944, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Louis Richart and Leoda (Elbers) Richart. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Rita Richart, John Richart, and Joanne Heard; and sister-in-law, Glenda Richart.

Tony is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Marla Richart; daughter, Tiffany (Bo) Smith; grandsons, Braylon and Coleton Smith; brother, Bill Richart; and his faithful canine companion, Paisley.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church (1752 Scheller Lane, New Albany, Indiana) with burial to follow at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery.
