Annetta Beatrice (Smith) Proctor

Annetta Beatrice (Smith) Proctor, 91, a kind and gentle Christian woman, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 12, 2017, at her home surrounded by family. She retired from Hillcrest Nursing Home and was a devoted member of New Progressive Baptist Church. Annetta enjoyed taking trips to Florida and, in her younger years, was a fantastic dancer, being a member of the "Bobbie Soxers."

She was born on September 22, 1925, in Warren County, Kentucky, to the late Revely and Lavinia (Hawkins) Smith. Annetta was also preceded in death by her loving husband of over 67 years, William Ben Proctor, Sr., and 10 brothers and sisters.

Annetta is survived by her children, William B. Proctor, Jr. (Mary), Sandra K. Johnson, Michael D. Proctor, Sr. (Pamela), Timothy W. Proctor (Lisa), and Jacqueline D. Jones (Tom); siblings, Joseph Smith (Lorraine) and Norma Gene Byrd (John); 21 grandchildren that includes Michael D. Proctor, Jr., whom they raised; 34 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be on Friday, January 20, 2017, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and after 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at New Progressive Baptist Church (4712 Middle Road, Jeffersonville). Her Funeral Service will take place at 12:00 p.m. Saturday at the church with burial to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
