Anna Mae (Jenkins) Byrd Schultz, 87, of New Albany, Indiana passed away on Monday, June 8, 2015. She was a member of St. John Paul II Catholic Church (St. Joe Hill) and a life-time member of VFW Post 1693 Hobart Beach Ladies Auxiliary. Anna was also a director for AARP.
She was born on July 2, 1927 in Pilot Knob, Indiana to the late Charles and Emma (Boss) Jenkins. Anna was also preceded in death by her husbands, Owen Byrd, Harry Schultz; siblings, Kathleen Gottfried, Mary Lois Harpe, Ida Leach, Clyde, Charles, James, and Theodore Jenkins.
She is survived by her children, Owen "Les" (Evelyn) Byrd, David "Randy" Byrd (Jane), Tandy Duncan (Walter); sister, Hilda Wahl; grandchildren, Brandon Byrd, David Byrd (Sibyl), Carrie Slayton, Marian "Nikki" Cohen-Byrd; and great-grandson, David "Robby" Byrd.
Visitation will be from 2 PM to 8 PM on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Service will take place at 11 AM Friday at the funeral home with entombment to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
The family would like to thank the staff at Autumn Woods, as well as Terri Liddick and Shanda Ross, for the care and compassion they provided to Anna.
