Anna Laura Riggs

Riggs, Anna L., 88, passed away peacefully May 31, 2015 with her family by her side.
She retired from the Jefferson County Board of Education after 25 years of service as a Plant Operator. She was a Kentucky Colonel.
Anna was born on October 18, 1926, in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Willard and Myrtle Merideth.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Elmer Riggs; her son, William Earl Riggs; and grandson, James Edward Riggs.
Anna is survived by her children, James Lee Riggs (Shirley), Carol Ann Putman (Richard), Patricia "Theresa" Blackmon (Frankie), Brenda Carlile (Jim), and Debra House (Dennis); and brother, George Merideth (Lonnell). She had 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home (10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville). A funeral service to honor the life of Anna will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home-Southwest Louisville Chapel with burial to follow at Bethany Memorial Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
