Anna Gertrude "Gertie" (Ross) Griffin, 96, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2021. Gertie was a long-time member of the Jehovah's Witnesses, serving in the New Albany Congregation. She loved gardening and was a great cook. Gertie's strawberry jam and blackberry dumplings will be missed by many. She will be remembered for her gift of caring for people in a very selfless way.
She was born on January 10, 1925, in Kentucky to the late John and Sarah (Johnson) Ross. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Marshall Griffin; daughter, Alice Lynn Thompson; 1 brother; and 5 sisters.
Gertie is survived by son, Richard Dean (Nancy) Griffin; son, Marshall Dallas (Tammy) Griffin; daughter, Gloria Faye Schindler; son, Curtis Kent (Tina) Griffin; 20 grandchildren; and many great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 13, 2021, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana). A private family graveside service will follow at Edwardsville (Tunnel Hill) Cemetery in Georgetown, Indiana.
