Ann Murphy Sydnor, age 90, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025. A devoted wife, mother, sister, and cherished Nanny, Ann lived a life full of love and compassion. With a remarkable career as a real estate agent, she proudly held her license for 50 years, having a natural ability to connect with others, as she was known for her outgoing personality and warmth.
A woman of strong faith, Ann was an active member of Southside Baptist Church, where she dedicated her time to volunteering and helping those in need, particularly during the holiday season when she sent gifts to families in other countries. Ann also had a flair for celebration, enjoying the excitement of the Kentucky Derby and the joy of hosting family gatherings. Her beloved gold Cadillac, affectionately named "Goldie," was a symbol of her vibrant spirit.
Born on September 8, 1934, in Lebanon, Kentucky, Ann was the daughter of Richard and Edna (Carlisle) Murphy. She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Joseph A. Sydnor, and her brothers, Ralph and Larry Murphy.
Ann is survived by her loving family: her daughter, Kathy Sydnor (Steve) Williams; her grandson, Jordan Williams; her brother, Darrell (Gail) Murphy; her sister, Gayle (Ray) Shephard; and her brother, David Murphy. She will be remembered fondly by a host of extended family and friends who were touched by her kindness.
Ann was laid to rest privately with her husband at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, honoring their enduring bond.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Ann’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
