Ann was born July 28, 1927 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Maude and Herbert Chaffee. Ann was raised by her maternal grandparents, Sally and Harvey Wallis, in Centralia, Illinois after the death of her mother after child birth. Her father died in 1992 at the age of 97.

Ann is survived by her children, Herbert Neidner, Michael Neidner, Janet Hocutt, David Neidner, her step-children, Karen Mauermann, Gary (Sandra/Sue) Mauermann, her grand-children Emily, Robert, Jesse, Herb Jr., Monica, Missy, Derek, Tara, Zee, and several great grand-children.

Ann received her BS degree from Western Kentucky University State Teachers College and her MA degree in Christian Education from Scarritt College for Christian Workers.

Ann answered God’s call to Christian service and was commissioned a Deaconess of the United Methodist Church in 1965. She served as Director of Christian Education in United Methodist churches in Ohio, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Virginia and Kentucky. Ann was a long-time member of Buechel United Methodist Church in Louisville and served as a volunteer on their Christian Education staff.

Ann was a retired school teacher with Jefferson County Kentucky Public Schools. Her last school was Schaffner Traditional Elementary.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date at Buechel United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations are requested to be given to Buechel United Methodist Church, 2817 Hikes Lane, Louisville, KY. 40218.
