Anita Butler

Anita Butler, age 83, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025. Anita had a zest for life and enjoyed golf, shopping, playing cards, and, most of all, spending time with her family and friends. She began her career as a flight attendant with United Airlines, where she discovered her lifelong love of travel. Anita and her husband, Vince, honeymooned in Maui—a place that would become their favorite destination for years to come. Her passion for golf introduced her to many cherished friends at Wildwood Country Club, a community that became her second family in Louisville.

Anita Butler was born on April 23, 1942, in South Bend, Indiana, to Darwin and Marion (Gassensmith) Sharpe. She was one of six children and cherished her close-knit family throughout her life.

Along with her parents, Anita was preceded in death by her husband, Vince Butler; and her brother, Bob Sharpe.

Anita is lovingly survived by her children, Patrick (Jessica) Butler, Julie (Dean) Sevy, and Michael Butler; her brothers, Bill (Kathy) Sharpe, Ed (Jean) Sharpe, and Pat Sharpe; her sister, Leslie (Sam) Nichol; her sister-in-law, Marcia Sharpe; and her beloved grandchildren, Jackson Sevy, Ryan Sevy, Mitchell Sevy, Sadey Butler, and Greta Butler. She will also be deeply missed by many extended family members and dear friends.

A gathering to celebrate Anita’s life will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions – East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243.

Memorials may be made to Kosair Children's Hospital or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
