Angela Jean Grider, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on July 25, 2026, in Memphis, Indiana, at the age of 65. Born on December 31, 1960, in Scottsburg, Indiana, Angela’s life was a testament to love, devotion, and gentle perseverance that touched everyone who had the privilege to know her.

From her early years growing up in Henryville, Angela displayed a tenacity and warmth that would define her life. She proudly graduated from Henryville High School and pursued further studies at IVY Tech, always valuing education and the doors it could open. Angela’s dedication to helping others shone through when she achieved her CNA and began her career as a nursing assistant. Those who knew her from her time in healthcare remember her compassion and willingness to go above and beyond for those in her care. Eventually, Angela made the loving choice to dedicate herself fully to her family, becoming a homemaker whose tireless efforts and nurturing heart made her house a true home.

Angela cherished her role as a devoted wife of 44 years to her husband William Grider, whose partnership with Angela was built on laughter, strength, and unwavering commitment. She was the loving mother to Eric (Jeana), Kevin, Amanda, Crystal, and her stepsons Josh and Chris, each of whom carry forward the values she instilled: honesty, hard work, and a steadfast love for family. Her light also shone on her 14 loving grandchildren, and her grand puppy, for whom she reserved a special affection, finding joy in every gathering and every milestone.

Angela’s life was filled with joys both simple and profound. She found happiness in crafting, often surrounding herself with the warmth of handmade treasures and creative expressions. She relished the thrill of a successful find while goodwill shopping “Ding Danging” or at a yard sale, making each outing an adventure. Evenings spent playing euchre and dice were moments she treasured, as were long chats at her kitchen table, laughter echoing in the home she created. Doing nails, spending time with her children and grandchildren, and sharing quiet moments at home with William were among her greatest joys.

There was a selfless honesty to Angela—she was the backbone of her family, always ensuring everyone’s needs were met before her own. In her presence, one felt understood, accepted, and cherished. Her siblings, Sonya Tawney, Candy Weston, Willie Nye, and Steven Nye, remember Angela not just as a sister, but as a confidante whose support never wavered. 

Angela was preceded by her parents, William and Emma Nye. She faced the loss of her brother Jamie Nye with grace, always honoring his memory and legacy within the family.

To honor Angela’s life, visitation will be held on July 31, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana, located at 3309 Ballard Ln, New Albany, IN 47150. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the same location.
