Angela Mary (Peterson) Brown, 94, passed away on Sunday evening, February 5, 2017. She was a full-time mother and boasted a large garden from which she produced and preserved the finest vegetables. Angela also enjoyed quilting. She was a member of St. Mary's Navilleton Catholic Church, St. Anne's Altar Society, and the Galena Bunco Club. She was a former cook at Galena Elementary and served in various volunteer positions for her children's school and for her church, including the altar cloth changing team. She graduated with honors from New Middletown High School.
She was born on July 5, 1922, in Milltown, Indiana, to the late Charles and Elizabeth (Kuper) Peterson. Angela was also preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Brown, Sr.; sons, Donald and Edward Brown; infant daughter, Nancy Brown; and brothers Harry "Bob" Peterson and John Peterson (Margaret).
Angela is survived by her children, Stanley Brown, Jr. (Judy), Patricia Ann Brown Griffin Noble (Royce), Shirley Brown Gordon; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Brown; grandchildren, Matthew Brown, Candida Griffin Tomlin (Wayne), Christopher Brown (Melissa), Elizabeth Brown Romangi (Stefan), Thomas Brown, Paul Griffin (Barbara), Angela Gordon and Kathleen Gordon; great-grandchildren, Brantly Tomlin, Alexus Griffin, Emma Brown, Jacob Griffin, Abby Brown, Phillip Romangi, Rori Brown, and Cassidy Tomlin; and great-great-grandchildren, Roa and Kyrie Tomlin.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2017, at the Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at St. Mary's Navilleton Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
