Andrew Carl Schmied

Andrew Carl "Drew" Schmied, 49, of Georgetown Indiana, passed away at home on Friday, March 26, 2021. His passion in life was raising and supporting his son Brayden. His heart and soul went into supporting his son on and off the football field. He was also an avid football fan and loved the Louisville Cardinals.

He was born January 8, 1972, in Louisville, Kentucky, to John Schmied and the late Janet (Metcalfe) Schmied. In addition to his father, Drew is survived by his son, Brayden Schmied; siblings, Kimberly Carter and Michael Schmied (Julie); stepmother Susan Schmied; Aunt, Karen McCroskey (Frank); Uncle, Keith Metcalfe; His significant other, Deanna Sims and her children, Carolyn Joslin and William Cornett; his nephews, Dustin Zehnder (Ashley), Chad Zehnder (Danette), Trenton Hixenbaugh, and Henry Schmied; nieces, Kristen Hixenbaugh and Charlotte Schmied; as well as extended family members and friends. Along with his mother, Drew was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Bailey Paige.

Cremation was chosen and a visitation will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany).
