With deep hearts, we mourn the passing and celebrate the life of Andre Hamlin, Sr, who departed this world on June 27, 2026, in Louisville, Kentucky, at the age of 56. Born on January 8, 1970, Andre’s journey was rich with laughter and love, and purpose and pride.
From his earliest days, Andre was a bright spirit with an infectious sense of humor, always quick with a joke and at the center of any gathering. As the life of the party, he naturally drew people around him, his laughter and confident charm creating a warmth that lingered long after he left the room. Whether he was lighting up the dance floor, making others laugh until they cried, or showing off his assured and lively personality, Andre’s presence was unmistakable.
Andre touched the hearts of people beyond his cherished circle of family and friends. He followed a calling to become an Ordained Minister where he pursued his journey with Christ at LAMP Life Center Ministries. In his dedication to protecting and supporting those around him, Andre ran his own security company, “B More Careful.” Through his work, he demonstrated commitment, leadership, and attentiveness that carried throughout his life.
With hands ever busy and a mind always eager to solve problems, Andre found joy in fixing and building, never shying away from a project as a skilled handyman. When not lending a helping hand, he delighted in the thrill of friendly competition, enjoying hours of basketball and football or settling in for a game on his XBox. His storied status as a “ladies man” only added to his legendary charisma among all who knew him. And no conversation about Andre would be complete without mentioning his devotion as an avid Baltimore Ravens fan, always ready to cheer on his team with enthusiasm and hope.
Family meant the world to Andre, and he leaves behind a loving legacy in his children: Andre Hamlin, Jr., Nehemiah Brown-Hamlin, and Damone Brown-Hamlin. His love for his siblings, brother Frankie Bennett, and sister, Joann Stewart, was one of shared memories. His older brother Michael Hamlin helped mold and support Andre through every aspect of life. Those closest to his heart also include Tykriona Burrus, who stood by him through the days of joy and sorrow alike.
As we remember Andre, we also hold in our hearts the cherished memory of those who passed before him: his mother, Priscilla Hamlin-Bennett; his father, Franklin Bennett; and his brothers, Ronnie Hamlin and Michael Hamlin. Their influence and love shaped the compassionate, and spirited man Andre became.
To honor this extraordinary life, family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Sunday, July 5, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville, 10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the same location.
Though Andre Hamlin, Sr’s earthly journey has ended, the story of his life continues—etched in laughter shared and memories created to all who knew him, and remember to "B More Careful."
