Alyce "Charlene" Newton Sands, a radiant soul whose essence was woven with kindness and joy, passed away on September 10, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on March 19, 1955, in Louisville, KY, Charlene graced the world with her infectious smile and ability to find joy even in the smallest of moments.
Charlene’s warmth and spirit were felt by all who knew her. She was an icon. A legend. Epitome of beauty. A force to be reckoned with. Throughout all stages of her life. Even up until the end. She loved unconditionally and never expected anything in return. She left a legacy for her girls.
Her parents, Thomas and Charlotte Newton, and brother, Thomas Newton, II, along with her nephew, Jon Leveque preceded her in death. Here to carry on her memory are her children Marc Allen and Rachel Slimick (Aaron), grandchildren, Meagan Hudson (Jake), Lauren Allen, Treyton Allen and Morganne Grisham, great grandchildren, Winnie and Gwendolyn, her sister, Tammy Lockard (Moe Bear), along with numerous other family, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and many friends that will miss her very much.
Charlene and her family shared in countless memories filled with laughter and love. Together, they navigated life's ups and downs, creating a tapestry of love that will forever remain. Charlene’s journey was marked by many beautiful friendships, none closer than her best friend and companion, Donnie Simms, who stood by her side through thick and thin. The love and companionship they shared for 30 years were a testament to the profound connections she cultivated throughout her life.
Visitation will take place from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (10304 Dixie Hwy) on Saturday, September 20th. The family will be celebrating her life beginning at 1:00pm at the funeral home. Charlene will then be laid to rest at Knob Creek Cemetery (Westpoint, KY)
As we gather to remember Alyce "Charlene" Newton Sands, we celebrate a life brimming with love and laughter. Her spirit will forever remain a beacon of light for her family and friends, reminding us to always find a way to smile, just as she did.
