Alvin Lee Scott, of Borden, Indiana, passed away on October 5, 2026, at the age of 73. He was born on June 26, 1953, in Louisville, Kentucky.
Alvin was a proud graduate of Dupont Manual High School and went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Army. He later worked diligently for more than thirty years as an electrician for the JCPS school system, a career that reflected the hardworking, honest, and straightforward character so many knew and respected in him.
He was a devoted father, a loving grandfather, and a faithful friend. A man of devout faith, Alvin found joy in simple and meaningful things. He loved gardening, enjoyed being outdoors, and carried himself with a steady spirit that left a lasting impression on those around him. Among his proudest accomplishments was watching his family grow, a blessing that brought him deep happiness.
Alvin is survived by his sons, Noah Scott (Jennifer), and Nathan Scott (Kelli). He is also survived by his brother, Cliff Scott (Debbie); his brother, Patrick Scott; his sister, Sandy Horn; and his brother, Bobby “Robert” Thompson. He will be fondly remembered by his friend, Frances Hunter. His memory will also be cherished by his grandchildren, Bradley Scott, Chayce Scott, and Mckynzie Scott, and many loving nieces, nephews, friends and extended family, who were an important part of his life and brought him great pride.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Wilma Earls; his father Clliff Scott; and his grandson, Bryce Scott. Their memories remained part of the story of his life and the family he loved so deeply.
A memorial gathering will be held on October 13, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana, 3309 Ballard Ln, New Albany, IN 47150. A Celebration of Life will follow there from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Alvin will be remembered for his strength, his faith, his love for his family, and the honest way he lived each day. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved him.
