Alvin Kenneth "Smurf" Kennedy

Alvin Kenneth "Smurf" Kennedy, aged 59, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 10, 2024. Alvin was a beloved husband, father, son, and Pappy. He touched the lives of many with his kindness, intelligence, stubbornness, and unique sense of humor. His passions included camping, motorcycle riding, and sharing joyful moments over a cold beer, but above all, he cherished the time spent with his grandchildren, weaving stories that became more colorful with each retelling. His presence will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Born on February 3, 1965, in Peewee Valley, Kentucky, Alvin was the son of Albert and Mary (Waters) Kennedy. He is preceded in death by his father, Albert Kennedy; his brother, Keith Kennedy; step-mother, Minnie Wick; and step-brother, Calvin Wick.

Alvin is survived by his devoted wife of 32 years, Betty Kennedy; his mother, Mary (Danny) Rison; daughters Fancie (Cary "Big Shugg") Bates, Peggy (James) Joiner, Rebecca (Edward "Lumpy") Kennedy, and Brandi (Sarah) Kennedy; grandchildren Logan Bates, Paisley Kennedy, Luke Bates, AJ Mayes, Sebastian Mayes, Adalynn Miller, and Bentley Miller; bonus son, James Porter; along with extended family and numerous friends who will forever cherish his loving memory.

A visitation is scheduled for Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, located at 10304 Dixie Highway. A celebration of Alvin's life will follow at 6:00 p.m.
