Alvah Rita Jones was born in Louisville, KY to Rosalind Bacon Jones and the late Melvin R. Jones. She was the 3rd child born to this union, which also includes her 3 sisters Verrell (Terry), Olivia (Terral), Melvina and her 3 brothers Kenneth, Kevin (Felicia), and Kelly (Rhonda).
Rita graduated in 1979 from Ballard High School and decided to start a career as a phlebotomist. She worked at St. Anthony's & Norton's Hospitals. She later decided to become a surgical tech and began a long lasting career at Baptist Hospital East in their Labor and Delivery unit. In the 25 years of service at Baptist Hospital East she was one of the most requested and respected surgical technicians. Her coworkers became an extended family.
Rita was brought up knowing that Christ was our Lord and Savior and became a member of Zoe Christian Fellowship on Cane Run Rd. She enjoyed the sermons presented by her Uncle Bradley Bacon. She also attended Christ's For Our Community on Krupp Park Dr. where her brother Kevin sings as part of their Praise Team. She also enjoyed the sermons of Dr. Frank M. Smith, Jr. She is survived by her husband Donald Ray, 2 sons Kevin (Kristal), David (Connie), 6 Grandchildren Janiya, Kaden, Kristian, Lauren, Khailey, and Khaurey. She also leaves behind her sisters, brothers, step-children, step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and co-workers.
