Alton Frederick King, 88, of Clarksville, Indiana, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2020. Alton was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps., who served during the Korean War. He was a member of the Southern Indiana RC Modelers Club and a supporter of the Republican Party. He enjoyed history, aviation, politics, his career, building and flying model airplanes, travel, and many forms of music.
He was born on June 17, 1932 in Winsted, Connecticut to the late Elmer and Mildred (Brantmyer) King. Along with his parents, Alton is preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Sue (McNeil) King, and second wife, Gisela (Schaufler) King.
Alton is survived by his loving significant other, Brenda Wisman; children, Scott (Debra) King, Diane Magyar, Steven (Julie) King, William (Patricia) King, Karl (Lee) Bishop, Kathleen (Paul) Hite, and Christina (Greg) Gould; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and his faithful feline companion, Max.
Memorial Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - New Albany, (3309 Ballard Lane). His Memorial Service will follow at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, at the funeral home. Burial and Military Honors will take place at a later date. Cremation was chosen in regards to Alton's wishes.
