Alma (Gentry) Meadows Risinger, 96, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday morning, December 7, 2017.
She was born on September 9, 1921, in Cave City, Kentucky, to the late Tom and Pearlie (York) Gentry. Alma was a selfless and devoted mother who constantly sacrificed for the betterment of her children. She leaves behind a lifetime of wonderful memories and a family that will strive to honor her legacy of loving people. Although her family mourns her passing from this world, they rejoice that she is now free from the weariness of this earth and is walking with Christ and her departed family in Heaven.
Alma was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Glenn" Meadows; children, Janice Miller (John), Dennis Meadows, and Debbie Quirk; Alvey Gentry (brother); Pauline (half-sister); James (half-brother); son-in-law, Larry Brown; and grandson, Jerry Meadows, Jr.
She is survived by her children, Jean Brown, David Meadows (Fran), Jerry Meadows (Vivian), Paula Vannatta, Harold Meadows (Laura), and Ronnie Meadows (Doris); half-sisters, Audrey, Aline, Pearl, Jewel, Judy, and Gwen; half-brother, Joe Bennett; 19 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 11, 2017, at Newcomer – Southern Indiana Chapel (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and after 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Her Funeral Service will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday in the chapel at the funeral home with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Louisville.
