Allen Frederick Brown

Allen F. Brown, 90, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at Baptist Floyd Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Arthur and Rosa (Farris) Brown.

Allen was a co-founder of Allen F. Brown Industries and later a salesman with Star Drapery and Louisville Blinds and Drapery. He was a proud graduate of New Albany High School Class of 1954. Allen was member of Cherry Street Church of Christ in New Albany and formerly attended Ralph Avenue Church of Christ in Louisville and was a long-time Sunday School teacher. He also was a proud Boy Scout and Scout leader.

In addition to his parents, he is proceeded in death by his wife of 69 years, Darlene (Lee) Brown daughter, Peggy (Brown) Grover; his brothers, Charles and James and numerous sisters and brothers-in-laws.

He is survived by his son, Tony Brown; his daughter’s widower, Bill Grover Jr., sisters-in-law, Wyetta Lee and Tonna Lee; his grandchildren, Bill Grover III (Amy) and Alison Koopman (Chris); his great-grandchildren, Victoria Grover, Jonah Koopman, and Declan Koopman.

The family would like to express thanks to the staff at Maple Manor Christian Home and his Oxford Drive neighbors for their care and support in his later years.

A celebration of Allen’s life will be held Saturday, October 17, 2026 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN). Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2026 at Newcomer before the funeral service at 11 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be given in Allen’s memory to Cherry Street Church of Christ.
