Allan J. Boutin, aged 74, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. Born on December 17, 1950, in Winsted, Connecticut, he was the son of Joseph and Mabel (Cadrain) Boutin. Al graduated from The Gilbert School before pursuing his studies in engineering at Waterbury State Technical College.
Throughout his distinguished career, Al made significant contributions while working at John Crane, where he was involved in the invention of numerous patented products. Al was well-liked and highly respected in his field, creating lasting friendships among his colleagues and peers.
Al was not only a devoted professional; he was also a dedicated husband and family man. He provided unwavering support to his loved ones, acting as a quiet cheerleader from the sidelines in their various endeavors. Al was immensely proud of his children and grandchildren, finding joy in every accomplishment they achieved. He cherished the moments spent traveling, preparing delicious meals for family and friends, and indulging in his passions for boating, fishing, and playing golf. Al truly embraced life, making the most of every opportunity that came his way.
Al is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Terri (Hisle) Boutin; his son, Louis Allan Boutin, and his wife, Elke, of Corydon, Indiana; step-son, Adam Scott Kiesler, and his wife, Allyson, of New Albany; grandchildren, Chelsey Boutin, Collin Boutin (Lauren), Madyson Moore (Gerrin), Avarey Kiesler, Wilder Lorch, and Wyatt Kiesler; and great-grandchildren, Penelope, Bentley, and Michael. He is also survived by loving family members Kelly and Matthew Lorch, his brother, Thomas Earl (Arlene), several nieces and nephews, a special friend, Bobby Cooper, and his cherished English Springer, Millie Lite.
In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by his step-son, Matthew Michael Kiesler, brothers, David Peter (Diane) and Robin Louis (Pattie) Boutin, and one nephew.
A gathering of family and friends will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions located at 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany. Al will be laid to rest privately at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to: Reel Recovery - Fly Fishing, Kentucky Harvest (kyharvest.org) or to the Alzheimer's Association.
Al's family would like to recognize the entire staff at Autumn Woods Health Campus, especially the individuals who loved and cared for him on Legacy Lane. They are special people that truly have a servant's heart. The family would also like to extend a special thanks to Paul Johnson and Truman Mosisa for their kindness during Al's illness.
