Alice Catherine (Thompson) Jones

Alice Catherine (Thompson) Jones, 87, of Clarksville, Indiana passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2019. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Clarksville. Alice worked as a librarian and media clerk for Greater Clark County School Systems. After retirement, she was instrumental in establishing a library at her church. Alice was truly an incredible person that was cherished by the many people whose lives she touched.

She was born on November 8, 1931 in Smithfield, Kentucky to the late Squire and Sarah (Rodgers) Thompson. Alice was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald Jones; siblings, Cleston, Bailey, Francis, Lee Eddie, Wallace Thompson, Grace Southerland, Ella Day, and Pearl Robinson.

Alice is survived by her children, Danny Jones (Gloria), Charlotte McCarty (Chris), Caryn Morris (Robert); grandchildren, Cara Hagan (Alfred), Christa Lee (David), Eric Jones (Ashley), Charla Ellenbrand (Kevin), Aaron Jones (Rebecca), Ryan Jones (Emily); 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 from 11 AM to 8 PM at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Thursday after 10 AM at the church. Her Funeral Service will be held at 12 PM on Thursday at First Southern Baptist Church (215 E. Ettels Lane, Clarksville) with burial to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens East.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Alice's memory may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (301 E. Main Street, Suite 100, Louisville, KY 40202).
