Alice Jean Moore-Hammack, 84, of Prospect, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2026 at Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville, KY.
She was born on March 6, 1942 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Charles B. Moore, Jr. and Betty Jo (Grigsby) Moore. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Jon A. Moore.
Alice graduated from Fern Creek High School and received her Associates from Jefferson Community College. Alice's career was with the Louisville Fire & Rescue as a Radio Communication Dispatcher. She was the first woman to work the radio room on a 24 hour shift and held the rank of Sergeant.
Alice delighted in traveling and could pin her favorite spots on the globe to be Tahiti, Northern Michigan, Australia and Ireland. Her deeply rooted friendships brought and enormous amount of joy to her. Laughter and practical jokes were the frame work she thrived on.
Alice is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Edward Carl Hammack, children; Pamela Bergman (Dan), Kimberly Sample, Jeff Brown (Erin), Damien Hammack, Lavon Hoppes, Elizabeth Boykin; sister, Myrnette Moore-Lentz (Lace); grandchildren, Jeron Whalen, Ashton and Erynn Bergman, Garret and Kendall Brown, Patrick Hammack, Briquelle Hoppes-Gorr, Damie-Ann Allen and Danielle Boykin. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 pm on Monday, April 13, 2026 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - East Louisville, (235 Juneau Drive Louisville, KY 40243) with entombment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Louisville, Kentucky.
