Alexander J. "Alex" Ryall

Alexander J. "Alex" Ryall, 18, of Georgetown, Indiana, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026.

He was a graduate of Floyd Central High School and was looking forward to attending Lincoln Tech in Indianapolis this fall to study HVAC.

In his younger years, Alex's athletic abilities served him well while playing competitive ice hockey, with his brother, for the Louisville Ice Cardinals, or working out at the gym with his buddies.

When not playing sports, Alex's appreciation for the outdoors would often find him boating on the water, fishing, and riding four-wheelers. He also enjoyed playing guitar, drawing, and hanging out with his one true love, Gracie. Alex cherished their time together whether it was watching scary movies or baking delicious desserts.

Alex was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, William Fondren Ryall, and his maternal grandparents, Leonard Sumter, Jr. and Gloria J. Sumter.

Alex is survived by his mother, Shalene Sumter; his brother, Jacob Ryall; his father, John Ryall; and his longtime girlfriend, Gracie Edmonds.

Visitation will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and continue on Friday morning after 9:00 a.m. His funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church (5719 St. Mary's Road, Floyds Knobs) with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Alex's memory may be made to any mental health or suicide prevention organization that is close to your heart.
