Agnes Marie Kametz Hamilton passed away on July 21, 2015, at her home. She was born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania to Andrew and Anna Hovan Kametz. Her only sibling, Robert Kametz, died in 2002.
In 1944, she married Harold Philip Hamilton and was his helpmate and his strength during his World War II service and his years as a student at Duke University. During his career, which included two college presidencies, appointments as Director of Development for two hospitals and Ohio Presbyterian Retirement Communities, Agnes's social grace, warmth and charm were major assets in all of the positions that her husband held. He died July 1, 2003.
They had four children, Dawn (Carleton), Deborah (deceased 2011), Philip (Ester), and Elaine (Tom); seven grandchildren: Jason Snyder (Kathleen) of Louisville, KY, Elizabeth Snyder-Fickler (Greg) of Cary, NC, Matthew Snyder (Angela) of Louisville, KY, Andrea Brady Huggans (Jamie) of Warrensburg, MO, Ashley Brady Babcock (Skyler) of Columbia, MO, Danielle Hamilton Wininger (Eric) of Columbia, MO, Austin Hamilton of Kansas City, MO; and twelve great-grandchildren, Meredith, Andrew, Jackson, Alexandra, Oscar, Isabella, Judah, Logan, Hunter, Tanner, Emily, and Trevor.
She had a ready smile for everyone she met, a trusting spirit and an abiding faith. She was the heart of the home. Her light, love and laughter were experienced by everyone who knew her. During her life, her many talents produced fine meals, some beautiful paintings, lovely crocheted baby items for new family members; she enjoyed sewing, embroidery, playing her organ and sharing a good laugh. She remembered most of the lyrics of songs long passed and regaled us in singing them. Her children and grandchildren meant the world to her; her great-grandchildren delighted her. Her love, care and concern for her family will be deeply missed. In her later years here, the friendships that she made meant the world to her.
The family is extremely grateful for the assistance and compassionate help given by Melanie, Carol, Andrea, and others at Hosparus. Her family expresses deep gratitude to her family physician, Dr. Veronica Kavorkian, Jo-Lynn, Tammy, Esmeralda, Carly and others for all of the loving guidance, help and care they provided her, especially during critical times. They held a special place in her heart.
Visitation for friends and family will be at Newcomer Funeral Home, 253 Juneau Drive, Middletown, on Sunday, July 26th, 2015 between 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm. Inurnment will be at Cave Hill Cemetery in a private memorial service for immediate family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hosparus, 3532 Ephraim McDowell Drive, Louisville, KY, 40205.
Undoubtedly she would say, as she used to at the end of every telephone conversation:
"And…, I'll tell you bye for now!"
