Rosalie Kadler Zangari, 95, passed away peacefully March 15, 2023. Rosalie lived a full life with family and friends and a twinkle in her eye until the end.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to many. Rosalie was the mother that had breakfast ready in the morning, lunch bags packed, and dinner prepared every night, which of course always included dessert. Rosalie’s Italian sauce and meatballs and lasagna were phenomenal. She was the mother that went to every game and drove the kids that needed a ride. She joined many clubs and homeowner boards and was always an enthusiastic participant. Rosalie was the quintessential mom.
Rosalie read voraciously, followed current events, and even watched the stress-inducing nightly political shows. Meet the Press and Mass (later, Mass of the Air) were regular Sunday morning fare. Rosalie was an avid sports fan, especially college basketball, pro golf and Big Ten football. She loved playing bridge and was a member of a club that met the second Tuesday of every month from 1957 until recent years. Rosalie loved to travel and had been throughout Europe and all the Americas, including 48 states, and yes, even Alaska and Hawaii. Rosalie was smart as a whip and won many trivia games and was also a citywide spelling bee champ. She had her finger on the pulse of life for all her 95 years.
Rosalie was a proud 1945 graduate of Sacred Heart Academy and was a Realtor for over 25 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence M. Kadler and Rosalie Ernst Kadler, and her husband, Vincent W. Zangari. She is survived by her sisters, Mary Margaret Caster and Mildred Ann Killmeier (Louis), her children, Anthony (Beth), Dean (Debbie), Francie, Carol (Gerard) and John (Michelle), 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 25 at 10 am at St Leonard Church, 440 Zorn Avenue in Louisville with a funeral Mass to follow at 11 am; burial is at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sacred Heart Academy, 3175 Lexington Rd, Louisville, KY or Palliative Health Partners, 6200 Dutchmans Lane, Louisville, KY.
