James Arthur Johnson, age 77 of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2023. James was a man known by many names, Uncle Bunk, PopPop, Brother Man, Mr. Haney and last but not least Daddy-O. He was a loving and devoted father, companion and grandfather.

He was born on February 28, 1946 in Crestwood, Kentucky to the late James Andrew and Helen Louise Johnson. He accepted Christ at a young age at Brownsboro Baptist Church. James Loved the Lord!

He graduated from the Lincoln Institute and worked at the old Clayton and Lambert manufacturing company. James loved to entertain at family gatherings. He was an avid U of L Fan and a Ravens/Golden State Warrior Fan as well. James will be remembered for the love and care of his family, his love for western movies, the love and kindness for his friends and shopping at the Goodwill. James loved to dress well. He is preceded in death by his parents.

James is survived by his loving family, his companion and fiancé of 45 years, Lynn Coleman; daughter, Era “Jeannie” Johnson-Cotham (Howard); grandchildren, Patrice and Eran Johnson; great-grandchildren, Jayda and Julian Johnson; siblings, Larry Johnson, Diana Johnson and Barbara Johnson; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends to cherish his loving memory forever.

Visitation will be 10am to 12pm on Monday, March 27, 2023 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky. A celebration of James’ life will be held there at 12pm, with burial to follow in Brownsboro Baptist Church Cemetery in Crestwood, Kentucky.
