James Earl Lawson

September 1, 1953 — January 19, 2023

James Earl "Jim" Lawson, 69, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2023. Jim was a loving and devoted husband, father, and Papaw. He was a hall of fame fisherman and was an avid UK basketball fan. Jim enjoyed spending time watching Meecum Car Auctions. He bred champion German Shepherds and participated in dog shows. Jim will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.

He was born on September 1, 1953 in Louisville, Kentucky to Edward and Mildred (Beeler) Lawson. He is preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Lawson; and father, Edward Lawson.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Susan Lawson; daughter, Jennifer Lawson; son, Derrick Lawson; grandson, Garron Lawson; sister, Sandy Wiegandt; fur baby, Athena; and his granddog, Dany; as well as a host of extended family and friends to cherish his loving memory forever.

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 26, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, at the funeral home.
