She was born on December 23, 1950 in Indianapolis, Indiana the only daughter of James and Jean Wolfgang. Janet has an older brother Stephen Wolfgang and a twin brother John Wolfgang.

During her time at Florida College she would meet and marry her husband Michael Hardin. Michael and Janet were married on June 19, 1971. Michael and Janet would begin a wonderful and loving journey that would last 52 years.

Michael Hardin became a Gospel Preacher for Church of Christ and continues in that work until today, 52 years later. Janet started her career as a teacher, but was a constant companion, aid, support, and encouragement for her husband in the work for the Lord. Janet loved the Lord and was a willing partner with her husband. Janet has been a faithful member of the Church of Christ for 71 years.

The marriage of Michael and Janet was blessed with four wonderful children. Michael Scott Hardin, Christopher Brian Hardin, Andrea Caitlyne Hardin, and Gregory Michael Hardin. Janet's busy hands became the loving and caring hand of a wife and mother. Janet was always giving of herself for others, especially her children.

Janet welcomed the marriage of Michael Scott Hardin to Amanda Lopez and Christopher Brian Hardin to Jill Cable. Janet welcomed her daughter in laws as her own children. The Hardin family has been blessed by the Lord with seven wonderful grandchildren: Annalyssa (Hardin) Duff, Joel Hardin, Mathew Hardin, Jacob Hardin, Alex Hardin, Emma Hardin, and Liam Hardin. The grandchildren were a source of great joy for Janet.
