Joseph William Niehaus, 80, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2022.

Joe was born in Covington, Kentucky and was raised in Park Hills, Kentucky. He graduated from Covington Catholic High School in 1960 and went on to study at the University of Cincinnati. He retired from AT&T as an Operational Engineering Manager after 38 years. After retirement, Joe went on to become a consultant with Pepper weed Technical Services.

With Joe’s zest for adventure, he then went on to manage MacHaus horse farm in Palmyra, IN. Being a willing volunteer all of his life, Joe started Peewee Football and youth soccer programs in Northern Kentucky. With his wife of 58 years, he as an active leader in Worldwide Marriage Encounter and directed the teaching and presenting of pre-marriage counseling in the Catholic Church for the past 46 years.

Joe was an active member of St Joseph Crescent Springs, KY, Mother of God Covington, KY and Epiphany Louisville Catholic Churches. After moving to Louisville, he became President of the Spring Meadows Residents Board where he oversaw the day-to-day operations of the neighborhood. Late in life, one of Joe’s favorite passions was volunteering at the Franciscan Kitchen, where he helped prepare meals and pick up donated food from around the Louisville area.

Joseph was born to Joseph and Jean (Kennedy) Niehaus. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Linda (Finn) Niehaus, sons Michael (Laurie) Niehaus Wentzville, MO, Daniel (Jamie) Niehaus Leitchfield, KY, daughter Nancy (Daniel) Mac Millan Louisville, KY, brothers John (Julie) Niehaus Baltimore, MD and Martin (Lynn) Niehaus Cincinnati, OH. He is preceded in death by son, Patrick (Mary) Niehaus Cincinnati, OH and brother Thomas (Sue) Canton, OH. Joe and Linda share in love 11 grandchildren.

Visitation will from 9:00 am until time of Mass at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at Epiphany Catholic Church 914 Old Harrods Creek Road, Louisville, KY 40223 with a reception to follow services.
