1922 - 2022

Una Boaz Hartfield, age 100 and 1 month, of Greenville, Indiana, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2022. She was born May 17, 1922, in Palmyra, Indiana, to Gilmer Jefferson and Nellie (Hartman) Boaz.

She was a 1940 graduate of New Albany High School. She was co-owner of B&H Plumbing in Greenville and also Hartfield Bottled Gas. She served as Greenville Township Trustee for 18 years and as an assistant for 12 years. She took her work as Trustee seriously, being a good steward of the citizens' money. She was also a member of Chapel Hill Christian Church in Borden.

She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved daughter, Sue Ann Powers; her best friend and sister, Delora Boaz; and six brothers, Gladden, Jack, Mick, Elson, Lamoine, and Larry Boaz.

She is survived by her daughter, Judy (Nelson) Scott of Westfield, Indiana; son, Doug (Marie) Hartfield of Greenville, Indiana; and son-in-law, David Powers of Washington, DC. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Courtney (Chris) Doran of Zionsville, Indiana, Chris (Erica) Powers of Wayland, Massachusetts, Nicholas (Janet) Hartfield of Springfield, Illinois, Ashley Powers (Jason Cunningham) of Washington, DC, and Timothy (Melissa) Hartfield of Clarksville, Indiana. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren, Hannah, Connor, and Noah Doran of Zionsville, Indiana, Eva and Ellis Powers of Wayland, Massachusetts, and Franklin Hartfield of Clarksville, Indiana. She was lovingly called G.G. by her great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Terry (Linda) Boaz of Greenville, Indiana; and two sisters-in-law, Betty Boaz and Lois Boaz.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2022, and 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 24, 2022, with a Funeral Ceremony at 11:00 a.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - New Albany (3309 Ballard Lane). Private family inurnment will be at Greenville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Una’s memory be made to Hosparus Health of Southern Indiana( 502 Hausfeldt Lane, New Albany, IN 47150) or WHAS Crusade for Children (502 West Chestnut, Louisville, KY 40202). Envelopes will be available at Newcomer.
