Geneva Jumper Nelson
1939 - 2022

Geneva Jumper Nelson departed this earthly life on May 21, 2022. She was born the eldest of eight children to parents Arthur and Mattie Cochran Jumper in Oldham County, KY on November 29th, 1939. They preceded her in death along with her sisters Shirley Ann Davis, Judy Howard and Jean Jumper (twins) and her brother Edward Jumper. Her beloved husband and friend John D. Nelson also preceded her in death in 2008.

She survives to celebrate her life on earth her family including her children: Edith Nelson Yarbrough, John “Doug” Nelson, Jr., Maurice (Sharon) Nelson, Keith and Kim Nelson. Her grandchildren include: Victor (Lydia), Bryson (Neary), and Christian Jamison Nelson Yarbrough; Terran, Tish and Brooklyn (Kensie) Nelson; Dallas and Chelsea Nelson; and Courtney Nelson. Her Great grandchildren include: Avionna and Christian Victor “Sonny” Yarbrough, and Titan Alexander Yarbrough as well as Great-Grand Baby Nelson who is on the way. Also, a host of sisters-in-law and brothers-in-laws, albeit her nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She extended much appreciation and love to Pastor and Michelle Williams as well as The Bates Memorial Baptist Church Family and First Baptist Church in Anchorage, KY during her life. She had great love and respect to her beloved neighbors in both Berrytown Community and Shawnee Neighborhood including Big Mama’s Restaurant Family.

She worked at Brown and Williams Tobacco Company until it’s relocation from Louisville, Ky and organizations in the home health arena. She was very active in the lives of her children, and grandchildren albeit “The Shawnee Neighborhood Community Association”. She had the opportunity to travel across the country. She also visited Canada, Mexico, Europe and The United Kingdom whereas to spend time with her children, grandchildren and family. She acknowledged our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She believed strongly in her faith, family and friendship…and tried to be generous with her smiles and patience.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2022 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (235 Juneau Drive, Louisville) with additional visitation hours on Friday, May 27, 2022 from 12:00PM – 1:00PM at Bates Memorial Baptist Church (620 Lampton St, Louisville, KY 40203) with service to follow at 1:00PM. Interment will take place at Berrytown Cemetery (12606 Berrytown Rd, Louisville, KY 40223).
