Phyllis Ann Thomas
She was born in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Richard Posley and Carolyn (Tucker) Posley. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Windzell Thomas.
Phyllis is survived by her loving children, Eric Windzell Thomas, Portia Miles (Clark), and Kelley Guess (Daniel); grandchildren, Eric Thomas Cook, Reginald Wheeler (Lynn), Daniel Guess, Jr. (Ali), Ryan Wheeler, Zonia Conley, Jourdain Moore, Sr., Dimitri Miles, Kelsey Guess, and Kameron Guess; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Richard "Dickie" Posley (Wanda Smith); special sisters-in-law, Myra Moody, Phyllis McDonald, and Nelcenia "Teena" Posley; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
The family extends special gratitude to the Baptist Health Floyd ICU staff.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 17, 2021, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday with her Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 a.m. A private burial will follow at West Haven Cemetery. A celebration of memories will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home on Sunday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Windzell Thomas-William Finley, Sr., Youth Scholarship Fund (c/o Jones Memorial AME Zion Church, 258 Ealy Street, New Albany, IN 47150).
