Kay Watson Powell
1935 - 2021

Kay Watson Powell, 85, of Sevier County, died June 8, 2021, in Louisville, Kentucky, surrounded by her family.

Kay was born November 11, 1935, in Sevier County, Tennessee, to Roy Earl Watson and Kitty Bell Price. She moved with her family to Oak Ridge, Tennessee, where she completed high school. She, then, attended University of Tennessee at Chattanooga for two years. She married and raised a family in Tifton, Georgia, before moving back to Sevierville, Tennessee. After working tirelessly as the Assistant Director of the Pigeon Forge Department of Tourism, she retired to Louisville, Kentucky, to be near family. She did not stay retired for long, becoming an integral part of Robin’s Nest Interiors, owned by her daughter. Kay enjoyed participating in Bible studies, watching Georgia Bulldog football games, sitting in her garden, or being with her family.

Kay is survived by her three children, Sandra Lynn, Robin Lee, and Robert Timothy; alongside two beloved in-laws, Thomas Allen Cole and Felicia Lynn Case; and three grandchildren, Madeline Lee Cole, Carrie Lee Cole and Robert Michael Case: and a host of family and friends.

The visitation will be at Highview Baptist Church, East Campus, where Kay was a faithful member, on Friday, June 11th from 4pm-7pm. The funeral will be at Highview Baptist Church, East Campus 15201 Shelbyville Rd, Louisville, KY 40245 on Saturday, June 12th at 11am. She will be interred in a private ceremony at a family cemetery in the Great Smoky Mountains. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alina Lodge in Hardwick Township, New Jersey.
