Richard Joseph Duran, 72, of Georgetown, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021. Richard was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army who served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Richard loved attending his grandchildren's many events and enjoyed woodworking, traveling, cooking, gardening, and building model cars and spaceships and was an avid Sci-Fi fan.

He was born on June 12, 1948, in Winchester, Massachusetts, to the late Lucy (Theriault) Santasky. Along with his mother, Richard is preceded in death by his stepfather, Dominic Santasky; wife, Nancy Jo Duran; and brother, Edward Duran.

Richard is survived by his children, Bernadette (Emeterio) Munoz, Joe (Natasha) Duran, and Susan Duran; grandchildren, Cayla Duran, Richard Munoz, Robert Munoz, Luis Munoz, Benjamin Munoz, Katherine Munoz, Ava Duran, and Jacob Duran; brother, Paul (Pat) Duran; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 8, 2021, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - New Albany (3309 Ballard Lane). His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at Holy Family Catholic Church - New Albany with burial and military honors to follow at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in New Albany.

The family requests that contributions in Richard’s memory be made to The Wounded Warrior Project.
