James Clarence Popp, 89, of Memphis, Indiana, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Monday, January 25, 2021. Jim was a lifetime member of St. Joe Hill Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army who served in the Korean War. Jim worked in the printing industry for 40 years until his retirement. He was a proud recipient of the St. John Bosco CYO award. Jim spent a lot of time coaching girls softball and basketball and boys little league baseball. He enjoyed fishing, was an avid golfer, and loved spending time woodworking in his workshop and cracking walnuts.

He was born on September 27, 1931, in Bennettsville, Indiana, to the late George and Esther (Bauer) Popp. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, George and Mary Jean Popp.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Juanita (Graf) Popp; children, Diane (Paul) Graf, Mary Lou (Bill) Adams, Alan (Marcia) Popp, and Laura (Don) Frey; brothers, Merlin (Betty), Kenneth (Ruthie), Maurice (Lelia), and William "Bill" (Phyllis) Popp; sisters, Joan (Harold) Renn, Esther (David) Wheatley, and Barbara Beaven; grandchildren, Amy, Angela, John Scott, Krista, Abby, Emily, Caleb, Ryan, Sarah, Kristy, and Renee; great-grandchildren, Teagan, Corbin, Ethan, Nolan, Ella, Alex, Leland, London, Liam, Claire, Haley, Pearce, Maggy, Logan, Andrew, and Dylan.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 31, 2021, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at St. John Paul II - St. Joe Hill Campus (2605 W. St. Joe Rd., Sellersburg, Indiana) with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Jim's family would like to extend their most sincere gratitude to all of the doctors, nurses, and aides that took such excellent care of him while at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital, Baptist Health Floyd Cancer Center, Baptist Home Health, and Adaptive Hospice.
