1940 - 2021

Benjamin Ysidro Lopez (Benny) 80 years old, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville, KY.

Ben was born on May 15, 1940 in Gagetown, MI to Regino and Domitila Lopez. He graduated from Owendale High School in 1958.

He is survived by his daughter Lisa Simon, grandson, Jagger Fox and granddaughter Skylar Eve all of Louisville, KY, his siblings: Alex (Anita) Lopez of Lapeer, MI, and Petra (Bob) Chisholm of Caro, MI, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Regino, Pablo and Juanita Lopez, and Margarita Menzel.

Ben served in the Army at Fort Knox, KY in the 60s, then settled in Louisville. He retired from Ford UAW KY Truck plant employee with 30 years of service, and was a proud member of local 862.

Ben was a very competitive athlete excelling at basketball and softball with the Owendale "Bulldogs.", as well as an avid golfer. In his later years he enjoyed conversations over his McDonald's coffee, Tony Bennett and Elvis Presley tunes. He also had high hopes of winning the lottery big time!

A Mass and Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at St. Agatha Catholic Church (Our Lady of Consolata Parish) 4618 South Street, Gagetown, MI 48735. A small reception will follow at Sherwood on the Hill, also in Gagetown, where a buffet lunch and memories will be shared."
