A graduate of New Albany High School in 1967, Terry went to work for Public Service of Indiana (now Duke Energy) in 1970. In 1971 he began his career as a lineman. He retired in 2006 after 36 years of service.
Terry joined the National Guard in 1969 and served for 7 years. A member of the American Legion, Terry will be remembered for his strong faith, work ethic, generosity and love of helping others, loyalty to family and friends, and his patriotism to his country.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Geraldine “Jerry” (Wessel) Thompson; daughter, Robin (Patrick) Allen; and brother, Garry “Bub” Thompson. He is survived by his wife, Jonelle (Collings) Thompson; grandchildren, Jenna and Nathan Allen; his 4 sisters, Joyce Muscatello (Dan), Marilyn Griffin (Louie), Therese Winstead (David), and Kathy Sperzel (Steve Razor); his two brothers, Ron (Drue) and Pat Thompson (Rhonda); and many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 17, 2021, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana). His Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church (5719 St. Mary's Rd, Floyds Knobs, Indiana) with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Terry's memory can be made to Mount St. Francis (101 St. Anthony Dr., Mt. St. Francis, IN 47146).
