John Allen Meyer
1935 - 2020

John Allen Meyer, 84, of Lake Worth, Florida, passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2020. He was a member of the Lakeside United Methodist Church and the former Calvary United Methodist Church, both of Lake Worth, Florida. John enjoyed working in various ministries within the church, especially managing the Food Outreach Program. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and was proud of his involvement with the Boy Scouts of America where he served as a scoutmaster and District Commissioner. John enjoyed many activities throughout his life, some of which included the YMCA Indian Guides, coaching Little League, working as a Band Booster Volunteer, and going to flea markets and was known as a "bona fide" cruise counselor and travel agent.

He was born on December 16, 1935, in Edgerton, Ohio, to the late Lyman and Ethel (Wiles) Meyer. Along with his parents, John is preceded in death by his daughter, Elaine Meyer; and siblings, Leola Beck, Joan Day, and Francis Szeman.

John is survived by his loving wife, Sheila Meyer; children, John (Susan) Meyer and Jane (Marsha Osborne) Meyer; grandchildren, Kathleen (Dylan) Hanf and Megan (Mark) Yungmann; great-grandson, Samuel Hanf; and brother, Gerry (Marge) Meyer.

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions and by request of the family, services will be kept private. He will be laid to rest in the Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in John’s memory be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation (P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014 or at michaeljfox.org). The family wishes to invite anyone to visit John's Facebook page to view photos and share stories and memories.
