In Memory Of
Diane Marie Speaker
1955 - 2020

Diane Marie Speaker, 64, of Louisville, KY was granted her angel wings on October 13th, 2020 after a brave battle with cancer.

Those who knew Diane knew she loved life and everyone in her life. Diane had many challenges in life but taught everyone she encountered how to be kind and to love one another unconditionally. In her younger days, Diane attended school, was employed at Highlands Opportunity Workshop and was a nanny to her nieces, which she always referred to as “her kids”. After the passing of her parents, Diane settled into a new home with her sister and brother-in-law. Eventually, she became fully independent and moved into a group home at Pillar (formerly Apple Patch) and attended Kaleidoscope Younger Adult Day Health Center, where she blossomed as an individual. She constantly made new friends and would talk at length about every one of them. Diane knew how to light up a room with her infectious smile and kind demeanor. She will be terribly missed by those who knew and loved her. Her memory will be eternal in our hearts and minds.

Diane is preceded in death by her parents Jack and Nell Amlung Speaker, and her favorite dog Susie. She is survived by her brother Jack Speaker, and sister Cathleen Speaker Holzknecht (Dave), nieces Chelsea Holzknecht Jacoby (Nick), Shelby Holzknecht Daniel (Gerry) and Shanna Speaker (Joe), and her great nephews, Mason, Hunter, and Weston, who were the love of her life.

Her family would like to express sincere gratitude to Diane’s caregivers at Pillar and Kaleidoscope. The love and care provided from individuals at these facilities shows us what is good and right in this world. Diane loved you with all her heart.

Family, friends, and others whose lives Diane touched are invited pay their respects at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243 from 2 p.m - 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 18, 2020. Funeral mass will be 10 am Monday, October 19, 2020 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 212 Mt. Mercy Drive, Pewee Valley, KY 40056 with graveside service at Calvary Cemetery to follow.
