Vera Jean Smith, 73, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2020. Vera loved spending time with the family and watching UofL play. She loved her church and enjoyed gardening and seek and finds and puzzles

She was born on March 30, 1947 in Macon, Mississippi to Jim and Mary (May) Payton. She is preceded in death by her Father, Jim Payton, Mother, Mary Ann Payton, Sister, Katie (Billy) Smith

Vera is survived by her loving Husband of 50 years Ray Smith: Children Dwayne (Candice) Payton and Deanna R. Payton: Grandchildren Floyd Jackson, Tyrone Payton, Kayla Payton, Kennedy Payton, and Ronaldus E. Rhodes: Great-Grandchildren Myracle Jackson and Mercii Jackson: Brother, Jasper (Bonnie) Payton: Nephews, Jerome Smith and Ronald Smith. As well as a host of family and friends to cherish her memory.

Visitation will be from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). Her Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm on Thursday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel with burial to follow at Green Meadows Cemetery.

The family requests that contributions in Vera's memory be made to the family.
